Dakota Thorn, a somewhat recent graduate of Heidelberg University, has been a Columbus resident for 2 years. She graduated with a duel degree in Music: Vocal Performance and Communication and Theatre Arts. She was drawn to the local arts scene and community in Columbus, so after a summer at The Huron Playhouse she decided to make it home for a while.
Since graduating, she has tried to stay as busy as possible refining her craft and learning from the incredible artists in the Columbus area. Dakota has worked with/ performed with a few of the companies around town and hopes to make it more! She also thoroughly enjoys her time spent as AVLT’s box office manager.
While not “getting her theatre on,” because she has bills to pay and a fur-baby mouth to feed, she works as a preschool teacher in the Polaris area. On top of that, Dakota has recently become driven to better herself and her health through CrossFit. She is 75 pounds lighter (so far) and feeling great! She also enjoys her time spent section hiking the Appalachian Trail and camping. Dakota spends the rest of her time drinking green tea, reading Vonnegut and spoiling/loving her main man, Odafin “Fin” Tutuola, who just happens to be a 120 pound English Mastiff/Boxer, and the best baby a mother could ask for.
“Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven’s sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio. Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem. Do it as well as you possibly can. You will get an enormous reward. You will have created something.”
– Kurt Vonnegut, A Man Without a Country
