Last week we had our annual Available Light Theatre fundraiser, called “Feed Your Soul” and it was our most successful one yet. It was also my favorite one, not for monetary reasons, but for the people who came to support us and the performance we shared with them.
A few weeks ago, Matt Slaybaugh, our artistic director, came up with the idea of altering a one man show he had written a few years ago into a piece the whole company could do. We would only have a couple of rehearsals to figure it out and most of us were swamped with “bobraushenbergamerica” and our various day jobs, but we jumped at the chance to do it. Why? Because Matt’s one man show, called “The Absurdity of Writing Poetry” embodies everything we go through as artists.
