Here’s a blog post from July 31st:
“Last week we started rehearsals for Available Light’s first show of the 2013-14 season. It’s called bobrauschenbergamerica. It was written by Charles Mee, and first directed by Anne Bogart and performed by the SITI Company in 2003. One of the goals of the show is to put the artist Robert Rauschenberg’s collage work into a theatrical form. There are a lot of discarded objects (a favorite motif of the artist), many different uses of chicken and some square dancing. There are also lovely monologues about how different people view the world and try to cope with it in their own way. It has several purely theatrical moments, which are a joy to watch and to participate in. Also, there’s a martini slip and slide.”
