ALAN WOODS made his theatrical debut as a brown elf in the 1948 Malden (Mass.) holiday pageant, and has been active in the theatre ever since. He’s acted locally with Evolution Theatre Company, Bread and Circus Theatre, and the OSU Theatre, directed for Hillel Players and OSU, and his short plays for older performers have been presented internationally (well, in Hawaii and South Africa, outside the U.S.).
He’s also performed and stage managed professionally in summer stock in Massachusetts, Texas, Louisiana, New Jersey, Kentucky, off Broadway, and off-off Broadway. He’s been active in making performances accessible, having introduced audio description for visually challenged and blind theatregoers in Ohio, where he coordinated the statewide audio description program for a decade.
Alan taught theatre at a very large local state university for almost four decades, and also has taught at the University of Southern California (where he earned the Ph.D), Indiana University, California State University in Fullerton, and Los Angeles City College. He has served as a dramaturg for CATCO, OSU, Bread and Circus Theatre.
He’s the proud parent of a currently serving member of the US Navy, a grandparent, and a decorated combat veteran. And he’s been married to the talented and beautiful Ann Alaia Woods for almost half a century. In his spare time he bakes bread (mostly sourdough). And has been a proud vegan for some three decades.
