Kim Garrison Hoprcraft is a native of Baltimore, Maryland and a true east coast girl at heart. She grown to love Columbus since calling it home more than ten years ago. Kim studied Mass Communications and Voice at Towson State University, however, theatre has been in her life as long as she can remember. A full time performer in the Baltimore/Washington area Kim went to NYC in the early 90’s and ended up on tour for a couple of years with City of Angels. Returning home to Baltimore and meeting Michael Hopcraft and getting married in ’97 changed the course of life and theatre became a part-time hobby instead of a fulltime career. Kim’s son, Dylan, was born in Baltimore in ’01. The move to Columbus happened in January of ’04. Kim’s daughter, Cassidy, was born shortly after getting settled in Columbus in March of ’04.
By day, Kim can be found at the Columbus Museum of Art, where she is the Visitor Experience Manager. Surrounded by art and creativity day and night appeals to her in so many ways. Home life with Michael , Dylan and Cassidy is full of good food, good company, good books, lot and lots of laughter, and two beloved Bernese Mountain dogs, Jolie and Tessa. “The front door is always open, just come on in.”
Kim is constantly amazed at the way the Columbus arts/theatre scene has grown and blossomed in the time she has lived here. Creativity pops up everywhere you go in this city. And the performers and artists in this town are dedicated to the arts and this city in a really amazing way. Kim is proud to have a little part in this big initiative. And most proud of her relationship with AVLT. Saying “no” this company is just not an option.
In the end, what’s most important and most meaningful is the creation of positive, uplifting outcomes for human experiences and relationships. It’s how you make people feel. AVLT understands that it is just that simple and it is just that hard.
