   - Performances: March 12 - 28th, 2026

ABOUT THE PLAY
It's twenty-two years in the future, and honeybees are nearly extinct except for those kept alive inside synthetic apiaries where they live year-round in perpetual spring. When an unfortunate incident leads to a boost in the bees' numbers, lab assistants Zora and Pilar must decide how far they're willing to go to keep the population growing.
Sci-fi meets dark comedy and ecological fable in this thought-provoking play from award-winning writer and composer Kate Douglas. The Apiary takes us into a not-too-distant future where the negative effects of bee decline have inarguably manifested and a workable solution is not apparent. It is a call to action, a meditation on sacrifice and ambition, and asks us to reconsider our relationship to nature and each other.

Roles:
   - Cece/Kara/Anna/Bryn [20-60 female] - women at a threshold in which anything seems possible.
   - Zora [30-50 female] -
stoic and determined with an engineer's eye.
   - Pilar [20-40 female] -
a social butterfly who doesn't get out much.
   - Gwen [20-40 female] -
as anxious as she is ambitious.
   - Dancer/bees

By Mathilde Dratwa
Directed by Drew Eberly
Riffe Studio #1
   - Approx. start of rehearsals - March 30th, 2026
   - Performances: April 30 - May 16, 2026

ABOUT THE PLAY
Following the unexpected loss of her mother and simultaneous discovery of her father’s infidelity, an adult daughter juggles grief and anger. Her dad attempts to put into words his complicated feelings about love, loss, and lust. Meanwhile, the “other woman” ponders: What is an affair when it's no longer an affair? In Dirty Laundry, Mathilde Dratwa explores the absurdity and messiness of life and death.

Roles:
   - Me (30s) is a woman who lives in New York and who has just lost her mother and who is mother to a child and wife to a man
   - My Dad (70s)
is a doctor
   - Another Woman (60s)
is a retired nurse who has never married and lives in the same city as her lover; that is to say not New York
   -
There is also a Chorus; they know a lot of things but not everything and they can become doctors and they can become family, friends, and family friends, and my husband and my son. Sometimes they speak chorally mostly they do not. There should be at least 3 members of the chorus.

Audition Tips

Don't mime.

Contrast should be more than just humorous or not.

If there's a time-limit, get under it.

We can hear you when you're in the hall.

Your audition should be one connected performance, not two disconnected pieces.

Don't look the panel in the eye while you act.

Have a headshot and resume.

Show-up early.

Warm-up.

Don't sing a contemporary song unless the musical (and the part you want) is in that style. Sing something that shows-off your skills.

Take a moment, ground yourself.

‍If you are going to be still, really be still, own that space.

Show us you can move with ease, do it in your performance.

Rehearse. This is not the time to try out a brand-new monologue you don't know very well.

We want you to do well. Take us along with you rather than act AT us.

When you have fun, it shows. Have fun.

Not only are we looking for talented actors, we are looking good human beings with whom to work. Don't be a jerk at the audition.

Try your best to make it a good time. we want talented people, but we're also looking for people who we won't mind spending hours and hours with.
